Cubed cheese, Italian sausage, stuffed olives and an abundance of seasonal herbs make this quick and easy show stopping holiday appetizer wreath a favorite for entertaining!
Looking to add a festive appetizer to your holiday celebrations? Look no further than this holiday cheese wreath for your holiday party.
So much better than a cheese platter…it’s like a Christmas charcuterie board made in a wreath shape.
I love easy recipes for the holidays and this one never disappoints. You’ll need 10 minutes to put this together and you’re ready to serve. So much holiday cheer in so little time! It’s that simple!
Ingredients Needed to Make this Appetizer Wreath
Cubed Cheese – we used Colby Jack and Pepper Jack cheese cubes to have a nice variety for picking. Swap in your favorite cheddar cheese if you prefer. For convenience, buy the cheese already cubed, or cut your own with a sharp knife for a budget-friendly solution.
Italian Salami – buying the salami already sliced is super convenient. Use a sharp knife to cut a whole Italian salami roll into thin slices if not buying pre-sliced. Pepperoni slices are a great alternative to the salami.
Stuffed Olives – for super seasonal color you can’t go wrong with red pepper stuffed green olives…red and green anyone? Blue cheese and garlic stuffed olives are delicious substitutes.
Cherry Tomatoes – Adds beautiful color and compliments the flavor of the cheeses.
Fresh Rosemary Sprigs, Bay Leaves and Sage – forms the “wreath” and adds another sensory element to the appetizer.
Crackers – we love wheat crackers for the flavor and texture. Use your favorite.
Add-Ins and Substitutions
- Dot this holiday wreath with Black Olives instead of green ones.
- Artichoke hearts are a delicious alternative to olives.
- Try fresh mozzarella slices or mini mozzarella balls instead of colby or cheddar.
- Sprinkle the appetizer wreath with shards of parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
- Sub in crispy bacon pieces for the salami. Yum!
How to Make this Easy Appetizer Wreath
This beautiful appetizer couldn’t be easier to make. ?No cooking needed and it’s assembled right on the serving board!
- Arrange the bay leaves, rosemary and sage in a circle on a large serving platter or wooden serving board.
- Place the cheese cubes overtop the herbs. You’ll want to make sure that the herbs are still visible on the edges. The herbs are the “wreath” base.
- Arrange salami slices (serve any leftover slices on the side) and olives on top of cheese. Garnish with tomatoes. Place crackers in the open center of wreath for serving.
- Cover leftovers tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate. We recommend removing any uneaten olives to another container before covering and storing.
How to Serve a Holiday Cheese Wreath
There are so many ways to serve this festive holiday appetizer, but here is our favorite:
- Set the wreath out at least 30 minutes before serving to let it come to room temperature.
- Surround the wreath with bowls of fresh fruit, vegetable sticks, extra olives and piles of crackers.
- Set out wooden picks, small plates and napkins to ease guests with serving.
