How To Make Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce
Making pizza sauce just doesn’t get any easier than this. Throw all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth. Be sure to give it a taste and adjust the seasonings, especially the salt, to how you like it..
This recipe makes about 2 cups of sauce, which should cover about 4 12-inch pizzas. Store any leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
What are San Marzano Tomatoes?
True San Marzano Tomatoes are considered the gold-standard when it comes to canned tomatoes. They’re desired for their nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Grown in Italy, the best tomatoes come from the Valle De Sarno region and are labeled with the coveted Pomodor S. Marzano Dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino label.
While this variety used to be rather hard to find, now they’re available on most grocery shelves and can be ordered online.
My advice is to try them if you like to experiment, or stick to the brand you know and love. Good alternative for this sauce are Red Gold or Red Pack Peeled Plumb Tomatoes or your favorite fire-roasted tomato brand.
