Freezer Meal Sweet Spicy Chicken – just mix the sauce in the bag, and when thawed you have marinated, saucy, spicy chicken legs and thighs ready to cook! Great for wings too!
If you’re looking for a way to get back to cooking at home and stop the take-out cycle, Freezer Meal Sweet Spicy Chicken is a delicious way to get started. This meal can be made either in the oven or the slow cooker so it’s versatile too. Just add your choice of veggies at the halfway mark so everything can cook in one pan for easy clean-up.
I’ve tried a number of pre-packaged frozen dinners and skillet sauces, especially those that claimed to be just like homemade. But they just didn’t measure up for flavor. If it’s flavorless, what’s the point?
For me, freezer meals should be quick and easy to package. But they have to have big flavor. I generally use bold, ready made sauces for my freezer meals, but the recipes are adaptive so use what you like.
When I saw chicken legs on sale for 39 cents/pound, I bought about 20 pounds to make 10 of these freezer meals. I also bought some frozen veggies at the same time to add in when I made each meal. When making the meals in bulk, it’s easier and less expensive to order or buy the large size or multiples of the sauces.
The best freezer meals start with meat, then sauces and spices are added to give them tasty, bold flavor. Everything gets dumped into a plastic freezer bag or container, labeled with dates and cooking directions and stashed away for an easy meal. If you find the ingredients on sale, make multiples to reap the savings!
*Freezer bags generally take up less space than containers, so if space is limited use the bags. I use throw away bags, but the freezer-safe reusable plastic bags might be something to investigate.
