If you’ve ever wondered how to cook spaghetti squash so you can make those wonderfully healthy “pasta’ dishes, this is for you. It’s easier than you think using this oven method. One pan, in the oven for 45 – 60 minutes – this is no fuss prepping at it’s best!
How to Cook Spaghetti Squash
Wash the whole squash before cutting it. You don’t want any dirt on the skin to get inside the squash.
With a very sharp large knife, cut the squash in half lengthwise. You may have to work at this a little bit. Scrape out the seeds.
Coat an oven proof pan with olive oil or vegetable oil spray. Sprinkle both halves with salt and pepper and give them a spritz of oil spray. Place cut side down on the pan and bake in a 400 degree oven for 45 – 60 minutes or until the squash feels soft when squeezed.
Let the squash cool enough to easily handle before trying to scrape out the squash. Use a fork to gently scrape the spaghetti squash from the sides. It will resemble spaghetti strands as it comes loose.
Viola! Now you have squash noodles for all of your pasta recipes.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Coat an oven proof pan with olive oil or vegetable oil spray.
- Sprinkle both halves of the squash with salt and pepper. Spritz each half with olive oil spray.
- Place squash cut side down on the pan. Bake for 45 – 60 minutes or until the squash feels soft when squeezed.
- Remove pan from the oven, allow the squash to cool slightly before handling. Using a fork, scrape the squash from the skin to loosen and remove strands.
