Ingredients Needed For PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps
- Ground Chicken – for more flavor we used packaged ground chicken that has a mix of white and dark meat. Alternately, you can cut up raw chicken into very small pieces.
- Onion – we like to use a yellow or white onion. Sliced green onion is a great substitute.
- Sesame Oil – a must have for Asian home cooking!
- Minced Garlic – stash in the fridge so you always have garlic for your recipes!
- Soy Sauce – keep on hand to add flavor to fried rice, sauces and more.
- Hoisin Sauce – use in marinades, roasts and stir-fry.
- Ginger – for convenience, we buy a tube of ready-minced ginger (in the cold area of the produce section). It keeps for a very long time in the fridge.
- Rice Vinegar – unseasoned to use in marinades, dressings and sauces.
- Sriracha – adds the heat. If you don’t have it, a pinch or two of cayenne is fine.
How To Make Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Make this easy dish in just a few steps:
- In a medium skillet, over medium heat, warm up 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Add the chicken and the onion and cook until chicken is cooked thru and the onions translucent. Break up any chunks of chicken with a wooden spoon as it cooks so it resembles ground beef.
- In a measuring cup, mix together garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, fresh ginger, rice vinegar and sriracha sauce. Add to the skillet with the chicken along with the water chestnuts. Stir until the chicken and onions are coated. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 teaspoons of sesame oil. Salt to taste and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the Ponzu with the Thai Chili Sauce. Wash and separate the lettuce leaves. Serve the chicken mixture in a lettuce leaf and top with shaved carrots, green onions or peanut as desired. Spoon on sauce as desired, roll up lettuce leaf and enjoy.
